One Whole Year (Pre-Order)
Being a photographer was never really the goal for me. I just wanted the photographs. Reminders of where I had been and inspiration for where I wanted to go. And so in December of 2015 I bought my last first camera. Really it was my third or fourth, but I can't say I honestly count the previous attempts, as I gave up each of those times either because I didn't like the photos I was taking or because of some act of god, like the time my camera was stolen out of the back of my Jeep.
There's no real rhyme or reason why this time was different, but it was. For the entirety of 2016, I carried it almost everywhere that I went and for the first time in my adult life, I was hungry for an education again. My friends became my teachers and where ever I ended up, a classroom.
And although my twenties have felt like a long series of ruts and triumphs with varying frequency, photography has taught that I can still grow and learn. And no matter how much I continue to shoot, I still find myself being most grateful for that lesson.
This is a collection of those photographs from 2016. One whole year that I worked really fucking hard to learn something new.
